About me

My name is Lilia Wood and I am a senior at Glen Rock High School in northern New Jersey.

I am the Editor-in-Chief of my high school’s newspaper, The Glen Echo, and I have worked on the publication since my freshman year, initiating the addition of a fourth year honors course to the school’s curriculum. I have attended numerous journalism workshops to expand my editorial leadership experience, including one at the New England Center of Investigative Reporting at Boston University, the Diversity in Journalism Workshop at S.I. Newhouse in Syracuse University and the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Summer Journalism Workshop.

I am the first president of the Garden State Scholastic Press Association Student Chapter. The GSSPA’s Student Chapter is a network of high school journalists who advocate for student expression rights in New Jersey.

Aside from journalism, I have a passion for dance. I compete at the regional and national level for one of the top five dance companies in the northeast region.

In the fall, I will be attending the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
